POSITION OVERVIEW

Our mission is to bridge the gap between rescue and lasting freedom for survivors of human trafficking through safe housing and emergency stabilization aftercare programs. As a Registered Nurse, you will be at the heart of that mission—ensuring compassionate, trauma-informed, and integrative medical support that considers the body, mind, and spirit of every woman in our care.
This role is ideal for a nurse who is not only clinically experienced, but also values integrity, humility, and collaborative care. You will work alongside an interdisciplinary team to support each survivor’s path to healing and independence.
Duty Statement
The RN is responsible for all Nursing related services for each patient and for linking patients to the physicians and to outside medical resources. He/She participates in the Interdisciplinary Team Meetings when necessary to inform the clinical team about medical issues and is available for emergency medical situations. The RN is responsible for providing medical & history screens, providing routine nursing care and overseeing the medical and psychiatric management of the patient in coordination with the attending physician.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Provides nursing care support of prescribed treatments and medication interventions as established for each patient.
- Implements nursing care in accordance with the facility’s medical philosophies, policies, and procedures as well as any other regulating bodies to ensure quality patient care.
- Administers drugs, medications, treatments, and tests as allowed by law.
- Assists with detox admissions and provides patient care support during the patient detoxification process including pre-screening of patients, obtaining physical assessment data and health history, administering detox treatment plans, and monitoring of patients.
- Records treatment activities and patient observations in patient records accurately and timely; completes paperwork requirements as needed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Follows established policies and procedures for all medical emergencies (i.e., convulsions, imminent suicide risk, delirium tremens, etc.).
- Transcribes Physician’s Orders and implements all Medical Protocols as ordered.
- Confers with and assists the Medical Provider on call.
- Conducts Nursing Assessments and monitoring of Detox patients
- Handles the medication management; trains staff on medication dispensing
- Ensures Universal Precautions of the unit
- Facilitates Health Education groups including General Health Education, Medication/Drug Interactions
- Observe and assess patients for clinical signs and symptoms and follow prescribed course of treatment
- Determines and implements specific Detox protocols as designated by the Medical Provider.
- Assists with emergency situations and make immediate referrals
- Provides documentation which reflects services for each patient in accordance with licensure standards
- Meets with patients requesting to see the doctor to determine the urgency of their medical needs and expedite treatment as required
Core Competencies
- In-depth knowledge of the disease of addiction, treatment principles and 12 step programs.
- Knowledge of community resources and the appropriate use of these resources.
- Ability to delegate tasks appropriately and efficiently.
- Ability to be a leader and work well as part of a team.
- Strong writing skills and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and other computer program software.
- Strong communication skills and reasoning ability.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information to protect the privacy and well-being of the clients.
- Ability to deal with a variety of potentially stressful situations in a professional and efficient manner.
- Strong knowledge of ethical principles
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and resourcefulness
- Ability to coach and develop staff.
- Ability to maintain and develop positive staff culture.
Minimum Qualifications
- Licensed as a registered nurse in the state of employment
- One (1) year of clinical nursing care work experience
- CPR Required
- Work experience in substance abuse treatment facility is highly preferred and interest in functional or integrative health
