As a Behavioral Health Technician, you’ll play a vital front-line role in helping women heal, grow, and reclaim their independence. The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) plays a vital role in delivering trauma-informed, holistic care within a residential program for survivors of human trafficking and individuals experiencing behavioral health challenges. This position supports both clinical and administrative functions, working directly with residents to promote safety, stability, and healing in alignment with the mission and values of the organization.
Responsibilities/Duties
Direct Care & Resident Support
- Provide direct, trauma-informed care and daily support to residents in both individual and group settings.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and empowering environment for all residents, ensuring trauma-informed practices are upheld at all times.
- Monitor the residential milieu and conduct regular headcounts to ensure safety.
- Observe and assist with medication administration as directed.
- Facilitate educational sessions and therapeutic group activities as assigned.
- Assist residents in implementing personalized continuing care plans.
Documentation & Compliance
- Accurately document resident interactions and progress using DAP note standards.
- Maintain up-to-date records of all treatment activities, behavioral observations, and incident reports.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of all documentation, including assessments and progress notes.
- Communicate regularly with clinical and medical staff regarding residents’ treatment plans and status.
Intake & Assessment
- Conduct initial admission assessments and participate in the intake process for potential residents.
- Assist with insurance verification and other intake documentation as needed.
Collaboration & Communication
- Participate in team meetings and ongoing training to support professional development and quality care.
- Maintain open communication with supervisors, clinicians, and other interdisciplinary team members.
- Promptly report incidents or concerns to leadership and participate in investigations as needed.
Administrative & Facility Support
- Perform general administrative duties including answering phones, filing, scanning, and faxing.
- Assist with maintaining organized medical records and supporting documentation.
- Support day-to-day facility needs and program operations as directed.
Core Competencies
- In-depth knowledge of the disease of addiction, treatment principles and 12 step programs.
- Knowledge of community resources and the appropriate use of these resources.
- Ability to delegate tasks appropriately and efficiently.
- Strong writing skills and proficiency with Microsoft Word and other computer program software.
- Strong communication skills and reasoning ability.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information to protect the privacy and well-being of the clients.
- Strong knowledge of ethical principles
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in behavioral health, social work, psychology, or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in residential care, behavioral health, or trauma-informed settings strongly preferred.
- Ability to remain calm and compassionate in high-stress or crisis situations.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training and reflective supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
- One (1) plus years of work experience in a similar position and/or healthcare environment.
- CPR required
- Valid unrestricted driver’s license
Job Types: 8-hour shift, 12-hour shift, PRN

- 7AM-3PM; 3PM-11PM; 11PM-7AM
- 7AM-7PM; 7PM-7AM
- Day Shift, Evening Shift, Awake Night shift
- Weekends
